Exercise
after your Meal
|
|
|
If
you know you'll be having more of
high fat foodsat that party tomorrow
night, have a good exercise today. The
idea is that your muscles will absorb
the new fat from your blood in order
to replenish the amount you burned
the day before, and so it won't end
up on your hips or belly.

Honey
more Calories than Antioxidants
|
|
Antioxidants,are
those beneficial compounds that may
help to prevent cancer and heart disease.Researchers
found that depending on which flowers
the bees fed on, honey can be a good
source of antioxidants. The darker the
honey, the more antioxidants.Ounce for
ounce honey can be as good source as
many fruits and vegetables. But no one
eats & no one should eat -"ounces"
of honey at one sitting A four ounce
of carrot or orange serving has 40 to
50 calories , four ounces of honey has
360 calories. Even a tiny amount of
antioxidants, honey is simply sugar.

Apples
& Cinnamons is the Best
|
|
Adding
a pinch of cinnamon to apple juice
may do more than make it taste good.
Researches at Kansas state University
are saying that fragrant spice may
kill dangerous bacteria.
They
found this by inoculating fresh apple
juice with millions of E.coli0157: H7,a
bacterial strain that causes diarrhoea
& vommitting, when ingested. After
putting in the harmful microorganisms,
the investigators added cinnomon to
the mix- amounting roughly 1 teaspoon
to 2 lts.of juice bacteria levels were
reduced by 99.5 % after three days of
juice remaining at room temperature.
However,despite
of findings, a sprinkle of cinnomon
can't substitute for pasteurization.Killing
even a majority of bacteria won't
prevent illness if there are enough
left over to cause an infection. But
scientists involved that adding cinnamon
during pasteurization might allow
juice makers to lower the temperature
a little,thus, giving a fresh juice
its flavour-but still achieving the
same bacteria killing effect. Reseachers
are working to find the right combination
of Time, Temperature, & Space.

Magnesium
treats hypertension.
|
From
a study of 60 people with hypertension
, researchers at the National Cardiovascular
Centre in osaka , Japan , analysed that
a blood pressure can be lowered from
a regular intake of magnesium supplement. After
the subjects had taken 480 mg of magnesium
every day for eight weeks , their average
systolic pressure (the top number) had
dropped by 5.3 mm/ Hg and their diastolic
by 2.7 mm/hg . Researchers suggested
that magnesium treats hypertension.
Green vegetables , pulses and legumes
, potatoes , mangoes ,nuts , grains
and millets like wheat , bajra and jowar
are all good sources of magnesium. |

Not
so healthy shellfish
|
Shell
fish is believed to be rich in cholestrol
,but many types: such as crab , scallops
, mussels , clams ,and lobster --have
lower levels of cholestrol as compared
to chicken or beef . Shrimp and crayfish
have twice as much cholestrol as meat,
but their content of fat is much less
than meat , which is largely unsaturated
and includes heart healthy omega -3
fatty acids .Futher, researchers suggest
that the cholestrol in other foods is
better absorbed by the body than that
in shellfish . |

Bananas
for a healthy diet
|
Bananas
are a nutrituious source of our healthy
diet,they taste great ; you don't have
to wash or refrigerate them ; they contain
no cholestrol or saturated fat ; and
they're a great source of potassium
, which is necessary for maintaining
normal muscle contractions and a regular
heartbeat .
A
study published in Gastroenterology
states that bananas protect the lining
of the stomach against injuries from
the hydrochloric acid found in the digestive
system ,as well as alchol and indomethacin
, a potent aspirin substitute .Meanwhile,
reports in Nutrition and Cancer , the
European Journal of Cancer and the International
Journal of Cancer found that banana
consumption also protects against colorectal
, oral and lung cancer.
