Use" Microwave safe" & be safe

Containers that aren't labeled "microwave safe" may release chemicals into food when heated. So don't recycle take-out food containers as microwave bowls. Plastic microwave safe containers are better for heating leftovers, but for more prolonged microwaving its better to use a container made of heatproof glass, such as pyrex, or glass & ceramic such as corning ware.

Vitamin C - a must

If you're feeling droopy & too tired to exercise, it might not be willpower you need but more of vitamin C.A new study measured vitamin C levels in more than 400 mostly healthy people who went to an Arizona HMO clinic for regular checkups found that 30% had blood vitamin C low. Low vitamin C may rob you of pep because vitamin C helps your body make a substance called carnitine. Muscles need this in order to burn fat as fuel for energy.

Try to eat at least one high-C food a day. Your minimum daily goal is 60 milligrams(mg). BEST SOURCE: Orange juice, amla, guava, capsicum, melon, baked potato.

Vitamin E Alert

Although, vitamin E has many nutritional values ,but if consumed in excess quantity especially when asprin and other blood thinners are consumed daily they tend to discolour the skin The reason: vitamin E thins the blood, while asprin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories decrease blood clotting. Both processes result in more bruising. The rule of thumb: Limit yourself to 400 IU of vitamin E if you're taking asprin, NSAIDs , or other blood thinners.

Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, identified some of the richest food sources of it: palak, red meat, potatoes, liver, tomatoes, garden peas, and brussels sprouts.

Alcohol gets a foil

If you are worried regarding the risk of cancer due to alcohol there is a way out of it. Researchers have analysed from the Havard Nurses' Health Study that moderate drinkers who got 600 micrograms of frolic acid a day were less likely to develop the disease than those who didn't reach 300. Most multi vitamins have 400 mcg; eating beans and greens should get you to 600.

Eat Raisins and avoid Cancer

Here is a sweet way to avoid prostate cancer. In a dutch study, men who ate about 1/4 cup of raisins or other dried fruit a day had half the prostate cancer risk of men who ate less. But in an earlier study -back in 1989- raisins looked protective.
